This part of my website is still under construction (much like the Core Curriculum in New York State).
Please check back in the future for ideas on how to integrate my published books into the Core Curriculum (once the Board of Regents decides just what that is).
William David Thomas
I am always happy to visit classrooms to talk about books and writing. Presentations can be tailored to kids from 3rd to 6th grade; can range from 20 to 60 minutes, and can include hands-on activities. I can speak specifically about any one of my books, or make one of these general presentations:
How Does a (non-fiction) Book Become a Book?
This goes through the steps from idea to research to outline, and on into editing, artwork, and publishing.
The Fiction Writing Process
How I go about writing a book. This will include industry-standard procedures (which often mirror those taught in the classroom) to my own personal quirks.
To arrange a visit:
Please contact me via e-mail (wdt.author@gmail.com) or by phone at (585) 663-8441. Please keep in mind that I am based in Rochester, New York, and as much as I'd like to visit classrooms in Maine, or Montana, or Hawaii, I do have time and fiscal constraints.
